Joanne Schnare, President, Boston Chapter ALA, CLM, Executive Director

Kopelman and Paige, PC

Years in field?  I began my career as Office Manager in MA Attorney

General Frank Bellotti’s office. In 1988, I moved my family to Florida, worked as an Administrator at a medium-sized law firm, and returned to Boston in 1994. I’ve been at Kopelman and Paige ever since.

What do you most enjoy about your job? I have a passion for working in the legal industry and for helping people to solve leadership, operational and strategy issues. Throughout my career, I have worked with a team of amazing and talented lawyers and staff who are committed to being the best in the business. So many new, different, unique and exciting challenges every day; and I enjoy conquering those challenges as a leader and business manager.

Being the President of the Boston Chapter ALA is an important job as well.

I treasure the work I do with the ALA and especially the friendships made throughout the years.

What is your biggest challenge at work?  The biggest challenge faced, and probably for most of us, is juggling work responsibilities with family time and leaving some down time for me. The most rewarding challenge was returning to Graduate school at GWU in 2008 to earn my MPS in Law Firm Management.

When you're not at work, you like to…?  In the summer you can find me on

the Cape beaches, particularly Old Silver or Menauhant Beach in Falmouth, and my annual winter trek to Siesta Key Beach in Sarasota. When I can’t get to the beach, I enjoy volunteer work helping children in need wherever the need is most. I am a huge Harley Davidson and Elvis fan. For you Elvis fans, I saw Elvis at his last concert in Boston at the Garden in 1972! This summer I plan to take a course to learn how to drive a motorcycle at “Training Wheels” in Charlestown and, maybe, pick up a used Harley to cruise around!
