Valuing Differences or Equality? Tailoring Diversity Approaches to Context

Program Description: How should leaders and managers talk to their employees about diversity?  This program will describe two frameworks: the value in difference approach (which focuses on the importance of social group differences) and the value in equality approach (which focuses on the importance of equality irrespective of differences).  When and why are these approaches likely to be effective for promoting employee engagement and performance - and when they are likely to backfire?  This presentation will review emerging scientific evidence and discuss its implications for ongoing efforts to manage diversity and promote inclusion.
