President's Message

I am writing this message having just returned from Mohegan Sun where more than 30 Boston members enjoyed a great Region 1 Educational Conference.  Our own Paul Morton and Karen Glowacki, along with the rest of the Region 1 team, planned and executed a wonderful event.  In addition to the learning experience, a national or regional meeting gives all Boston members the chance to showcase the success that we have enjoyed as well as giving us the opportunity to learn what has worked in other chapters.  Congratulations to Paul and Karen for putting on a successful conference.  Now our attention turns to two exciting events coming up here in Boston.

On October 21st, the chapter will be participating in the annual Community Challenge Weekend.  One of the things everyone in this chapter should be proud of is what we give back to the community.  Last year, we had a strong turnout at The Home for Little Wonder’s Baird Center in Plymouth for a day of painting.  We were able to complete the painting of four classrooms as well as spend some time getting to know some of the kids that call this center their home.  This year we will be returning to the Baird Center and, weather permitting, focusing our attention outside with many landscaping projects.  As hard as we work, we also have a good time and lots of laughs.  Please contact Sue Kinnear for more information and try to join us on October 21st.

On November 16th, Boston will be hosting the third annual One Day Educational Conference.  As you have seen from the brochure recently mailed to you, this year’s conference looks to be another spectacular event.  The committee has been working hard putting together a lineup of varied topics on issues that we all deal with in our role as managers.   There will be a silent auction throughout the day at the conference with proceeds going to The Finex House, a shelter for battered women and their children.

I hope everyone had a good summer and I look forward to seeing you at an upcoming event.
