Boston Chapter ALA
President’s Letter

Dear Fellow ALA Boston Chapter Members:

As I am writing this, I am flying back from the 2017 ALA Annual Conference that was held in Denver. Being among other Chapters makes me realize how exceptional ours really is.

First, I want to thank and recognize all of the Members who have served on the Board and various committees over the past years.  I want to especially congratulate Kathy Crowley for an outstanding presidency.  Her leadership helped bring the Chapter to another level – or, as a true Bostonian would say “you did a wicked pissah job!”  A special thanks to all the Members who have entrusted me once again with the role of Chapter President.  I promise to work hard for our extraordinary Chapter.

I am looking forward to working with this year’s Board of Directors, Kathy Crowley, Amy Egan Cook, Elaine Anastasia, Megan Pluviose, Chris Holmes and Karen Edwards as well as with Committee Chairs Ginni Klier, Amy McDuff, Joshua Stuckart and Kim McMahon.  With the help from the staff from McKenna Management, I hope to make this one of the best years the Chapter has seen.

We are trying a few different initiatives, processes and programs this year, some of which include the Managing Partner Cocktail Reception (in lieu of the traditional luncheon) on Thursday, May 11, and the One Day Leadership Conference on Wednesday, September 13, 2017.  Both events have a different flavor than we have had in the past.  We have also begun our Diversity and Inclusion initiative.  In addition, we are planning a dynamic summer program and bringing back the CLM study group.  This will be in conjunction with top notch educational programming, networking opportunities, round tables and social events including the annual golf tournament that we will deliver to all our Members and firms as we continue to gain knowledge from one another.

I also want to acknowledge and thank each of our Business Partners!  Without your support, we would not be able to do many of the initiatives that make our Chapter special.

Finally, I hope each Member gets to experience what I have over the past 20 years through my involvement with the ALA and our Chapter.  My firm and I have greatly benefited from being part of this Association.  I have made lifelong friends and enjoyed mutually beneficial relationships with many other members and business partners.  It has been said many times, and I believe it to be true, that you definitely get more out of it than you put into it!  Please, if you are a new member or a member who is now looking to get more involved (or re-involved), I and the Board look forward to hearing from you and meeting each one of you at our educational and networking opportunities.

Thank you again for allowing me to serve as your 2017-2018 Chapter President.
