IS THERE A BETTER WAY TO BILL?
Hear first hand how one attorney has eliminated the burden of hourly billing, tempered by the insights of another attorney with years of experience in various models of law firms grappling with the same issues.
Jay Shepherd of Shepherd Law Group is a nationally known attorney with an expertise in non-compete lawsuits and employment litigation who stopped hourly billing several years ago with great success.
Marie Lefton, now a principal with Hoffman Alvary & Company, LLC, has worked with alternative billing arrangements across many practice areas in a larger firm context. She has practiced or served in senior management at Goodwin Procter LLP, Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky & Popeo, PC and Fish & Richardson PC.

Negotiation Skills for Work and Life
Many consider negotiation to be the formal procedure by which parties agree upon contracts and resolve disputes. The image here has people seated at a long table with a specific series of issues to be presented, bargained, and concluded. Although true, this is a very narrow view. Fundamentally, negotiation is the process of influencing people, whether family, friends, colleagues or clients. The purpose of this workshop is to introduce participants to the underlying dynamics of negotiation, including tactics and strategies that increase the likelihood of successful outcomes.
