Law Firm Cybersecurity – A Moderated Panel Discussion


This program provides an overview of Cybersecurity for law firms, discusses related legal obligations, describes what cyber insurance is and what it covers, and covers recommendations for technical implementation(s). The program format opens with lunch, followed by a moderated panel discussion and Q & A, and concludes with a roundtable session.

The Panel

Charles P. Bellingrath ARC Excess & Surplus LLC - Boston Principal Broker / National Practice Leader: Cyber/Tech 

Chas Bellingrath is a Partner and National Practice Leader for Cyber, Privacy & Technology E&O at ARC Excess & Surplus, LLC. In his role Chas is responsible for advising agents and clients on issues related to technology, privacy and cyber related risks as well as negotiating with carriers on policy terms and conditions. Chas specializes in tailoring tech, cyber, and breach response coverage and advises clients on breach preparedness and incident response planning. In addition, Chas is responsible for product development and production throughout the United States. 

Prior to joining ARC, Chas was a Senior Broker and head of the Cyber/Tech division at a regional wholesaler where he initially launched the product in 2007. 

Chas brings ARC over 10 years of dedicated Cyber, Privacy & Technology risk expertise. Chas is globally recognized and frequently instructs privacy seminars and participates on executive panels for Cyber Risk conferences. Chas also sits on several Producer Advisory Councils for top insurance carriers and the PLUS CyberRisk Task Force.

Peter McLaughlin – Partner, Burns & Levinson LLP

Peter McLaughlin has extensive experience advising U.S. and international clients on their handling of personal information and complying with privacy and data security protection standards. 
He has deep experience in the areas of international data transfers and privacy and security of health data. He represents clients across industry sectors with respect to rules governing employee, customer, and patient data; responding to regulators from the Federal Trade Commission, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and state attorneys general; and supporting post-enforcement compliance obligations.

Prior to joining Burns & Levinson, Peter was an attorney at DLA Piper. He also served as the former assistant general counsel for privacy & security and global privacy director of a Fortune 20 healthcare company, where he developed and orchestrated the firm’s global privacy and data protection program. 

William Kyrouz – Senior Manager of Information Security Detection & Response

William (Bill) Kyrouz has been working in the legal Information Technology Community since 2001, with a focus on Information Security since 201 CMR 17.10 (2009).  Bill has led security projects that include ISO 27001 certification, vulnerability management, and engaging Managed Security Services Providers (MSSP).  He is active in the LS-ISAO, serving on the Executive and Threat Intelligence Committees, and is committed to raising the security bar across our industry.   He is currently the Senior Manager of Information Security for Detection and Response at Ropes and Gray LLP.


The Moderator:

Henry Chace is the Chief Information Officer of the law firm of Burns & Levinson LLP in Boston, Massachusetts.  Henry joined Burns & Levinson in February of 2003 and is responsible for strategic planning for information technology for the firm.  Burns & Levinson is a full service firm focused in business law, litigation, intellectual property, employment law and private client services with offices in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Henry is currently a member of the Vendor Relations Committee of the Boston Chapter of the ALA and a Member Liaison for the Northeast region for ILTA.
