CLM Study Group- Application Review and ABA Model rules of conduct

The Boston Chapter will be hosting CLM study group sessions to prepare members for the May 2020 test date.  The study sessions will begin in July and meet at least once per month, ending in March when the application is due to allow two months for self-study or additional sessions.

Please know, the CLM Study Group is not only for those interested in achieving certification. Participating in the Study Group will give Chapter Members the expertise needed to manage any and all areas of a law firm or legal department. In addition to the numerous educational benefits, this is also an opportunity to get to know those in our legal community – especially those outside of our typical circles/networks.

The study sessions provide valuable information for all members and we encourage you to attend.  For those interested in applying for the exam, we recommend you review the educational requirements for certification noted in the "CLM Exam Information and Application Packet" and compare them to any courses you have taken in the past 24 months. A spreadsheet to track your educational requirements is provided here.  In our first study group session we will take a few minutes to discuss what courses people may still need in order to apply for the exam.  All applicants need the initial 10 educational hours and functional specialists need an additional 15 hours.

Benefits of the Certification:

  • Increased knowledge of all areas of legal administration
  • Increased value to your organization
  • Increased respect and recognition in the industry
  • Increased opportunity for upward mobility
  • Increased marketability and ability to compete in the job market
  • Increased remuneration and job benefits
  • Increased professional credibility

Benefits of Certification to the Employer:

  • Increases the level of competency of the individual to manage a law office or department
  • Encourages and improves job performance
  • Increases client confidence knowing the firm or legal department is being run by a certified professional
  • Provides opportunity to acknowledge an individual who has developed a high-level of professionalism
  • Serves as an aid for retention and recruitment

Please register for security and lunch needs.
