Help Raise $10,000 for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Medford and Somerville!

For the second consecutive year, our Chapter's Community Outreach & Events Committee has issued a challenge to help us reach our goal of $10,000!  Last year, the Boston Chapter raised over $15,000 during the August Challenge alone, and was able to transform the young adult program, impacting more than 30 individuals up from 10 the previous year.  Here is a progress report from Lindsay Smythe dated June 5.

As Lindsay states, from our support they were able to help these young adults conduct:

  • College Visits
  • Team Building Activities
  • Collaborative trip with Medford High School Department
  • Helping with College and Financial Aide Applications
  • Developing a Keystone Leadership program
  • Career Night
  • And more

We, as part of the best Chapter in the ALA, should be proud of the impact we have made. To keep this going, we need your help again!  We are challenging all of  our members, firms, business partners and friends to raise/donate as much as possible to this great cause.  Please donate whatever you can:  $10, $20, $50, $100 or more by the end of August.  Obviously, the more you can raise, the better. This is a "strength by numbers" campaign - if everyone participates we will easily exceed our goal.  Please remember that the Boston Chapter ALA “owns” this program and without our support, it does not exist.

Aside from feeling great about helping support an unfunded high school program for teenage youth, you will also get your name on the website as a donor to the cause!  We have named August “Boys & Girls Clubs Challenge Month”, and we know our Chapter is up the challenge!

In addition to individual donations, here is what our Member/Firms did last year to raise money:

  • Asked for firm donations
  • Held Ice Cream Socials
  • Held Pizza parties
  • Held Jeans/dress down day
  • Held departmental challenges
  • Held a book sale
  • Raffled vacation days
  • Raffled off sporting tickets
  • Reached out to firm suppliers/vendors asking for donations
  • Held other creative contests
  • Asked Firm if they would match personal donations.

One hundred percent (100%) of all donations will be given to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Medford and Somerville!  Checks can be made out to ALA Boston Chapter or directly to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Medford and Somerville and sent to:  ALA Boston, 4 Lan Drive, Suite 310 Westford, MA 01886.
Donations can also be made via credit or debit card at our GoFundMe page:  ALA GoFundMe2017.  You can track our progress via GoFundMe or here on our website.

Let’s show everyone why we have the best Chapter in the ALA!

Thank You ALA Boston Donors!

Donovan Hatem is raffling off an additional vacation day and two $100 gift cards to raise money for this great cause. What is your firm doing?
