Happy Holidays!  Help ALA Boston bring holiday cheer to the city’s homeless youth and young adults!  This holiday season the Chapter is partnering with Bridge Over Troubled Waters in organizing a “Stuff a Backpack” drive!

The Chapter has purchased 75 backpacks and needs your help to stuff them with critical supplies.  Please visit https://www.myregistry.com/giftlist/alaboston to purchase pre-selected items for the backpacks or to make a donation.  The deadline to order online is December 7th.  Purchased supplies will be delivered directly to the Chapter for a festive “Stuff a Backpack” social to be held on Monday, December 17th from 5-6:30PM at the offices of Donovan Hatem LLP.  To sign up for the stuffing social, please register here.

Your Community Engagement Committee will be on hand at the Chapter’s quarterly event coming up on December 14th to collect any backpack supplies shipped directly to you and accept additional cash donations for the drive.  If you choose to have items shipped directly to you, please be sure to indicate that you “bought this gift already” on https://www.myregistry.com/giftlist/alaboston.  If you are unable to purchase supplies, we still encourage you to join us on the 17th for the stuffing social.

Bridge Over Troubled Waters’ mission is to provide effective and innovative services to run away, homeless and high-risk youth, help youth avoid a lifetime of dependency on social services, guide youth towards self-sufficiency, and enable youth to transform lives and build fulfilling, meaningful futures.  For more information, please visit www.bridgeotw.org

For questions about the backpack drive, please contact Tim Hardin, VP of Community Engagement, at tjhardin@gmail.com.
