Many, many boxes of toiletries and backpacks were delivered to Donovan Hatem over the course of the last six weeks as the Boston Chapter of the ALA once again gathered to help a population in need.  This time the recipients of our efforts were the homeless youth of Bridge Over Troubled Waters.  At the December luncheon, a 50/50 raffle was held and the winner, Josh Stuckart, generously donated the winnings back to BOTW.  Between Josh’s kindness and the donations received, Tim Hardin was able to go out and purchase more toiletries.  On Monday evening, a spirited group of ALA elves which included both chapter members and business partners gathered at Donovan Hatem and formed an assembly line to stuff 50 backpacks with everything from socks to flashlights and afterwards enjoyed pizza, wine and beer.  Jason Dornhoffer of United Private Car donated his services by delivering the backpacks to BOTW on Tuesday morning.

Immediately upon delivery of the backpacks, an email was received from Barbara Baxter, Corporate and Foundation Relations Manager at BOTW.  She wrote:

“This is AMAZING. We are truly grateful to you and everyone at ALA. As I mentioned,
we will host a holiday lunch for the youth at Bridge on Friday. After their bellies are
full, they will each receive your donated backpacks (also filled—thanks you ALA!) and
a gift card. I am happy to take photos of the delivery today and during the lunch on Friday. Y

You all did a fantastic job, and on behalf of the kids a Bridge, we wish you all a very happy holiday!

All my best, Barbara”

Thank you, Boston Chapter, for all of your continued generosity through 2018!  There is still time to help BOTW by having your law firm sponsor a lunch; please reach out to Barbara Baxter at Bridge for further details.  The kids are wonderful and so appreciative.

Wishing all happy and healthy holidays!
