Our group fed 30 Veterans a pizza snack on Saturday, awarded $70 in bingo prizes and donated 64 sweatshirts/pants to the Chelsea Soldiers’ Home!  Volunteers also met some of the nurses and aids, helped transport residents to the recreation room and got a real sense of how the Soldiers’ Home operates.   ALA member and longtime Soldiers’ Home volunteer Maria Krentzman said after the event, “I could see from the Veterans reactions that it meant a lot to them that we were there to help them play bingo and spend time with them.”   It was a joy to spend a few hours at the Home and an honor to serve Our Veterans.
