The Boston Chapter Community Engagement Committee is selling pies for Community Servings’ annual Pie in the Sky Thanksgiving bake sale!  Community Servings prepares and delivers 650,000 medically tailored meals annually to critically and chronically ill individuals and their families in the Boston area.  We can make a bigger impact as a team, which is why we are inviting the entire Boston Chapter to help us sell delicious apple, pecan, pumpkin, and sweet potato pies this year for Thanksgiving.

Each $30 pie we sell provides a week’s worth of nutritious meals for a critically ill neighbor in need.

WHAT: Pie in the Sky is Community Servings’ annual Thanksgiving bake sale. Each November since 1993, Boston's most generous restaurants, bakeries, caterers, and hotels donate thousands of pies that 500 volunteers then sell to family, friends, and colleagues in time to celebrate the holiday season. Pie in the Sky started as a grassroots bake sale 27 years ago and has grown to be Community Servings’ most successful fundraiser. In 2018 we sold 25,000 pies, raising more than $750,000 for Community Servings and providing tens of thousands of meals to our critically ill neighbors.

HOW: From October through Thanksgiving, sellers promote Pie in the Sky and sell pies to friends, families, co‐workers, and neighbors. Over the course of the sale, more than 100 bakers and 500+ volunteers will donate, bake, and pick up these apple, pecan, pumpkin, sweet potato pies and deliver them to more than 100 pick-up locations in Greater Boston. Each pie is just $30, an amount which provides a week’s worth of nutritious, home‐ delivered meals to someone who is too sick to shop or cook for themselves or their family. Pies can be ordered online and can be picked up on Wednesday, November 27th at one of our 100+ volunteer pick up sites, from Boston to Worcester, up through the North Shore and as far South as Duxbury.

WHY: Community Servings provides nutritious, made-from-scratch meals to critically ill individuals and their families. Community Servings' meals are medically tailored, meaning they meet the nutritional and medical needs of their clients suffering from HIV/AIDS, diabetes, cancer, and other critical illnesses. Our goals are to help our clients maintain their health and dignity and preserve the integrity of their families through culturally appropriate, home-delivered meals, nutrition education, and other community programs.
