Chapter Bylaws Amendment Notification

Chapter Members,

As you may have seen announced by the Association in July this year, ALA International’s membership voted to approve a change to the membership structure, eliminating the Associate Member category. This amendment to the Association’s bylaws has necessitated a change to all local Chapters’ bylaws to remain in compliance with headquarters. In conjunction with this change, the Association has asked all Chapters to make other amendments to align with a set of model bylaws reviewed by their legal counsel. The Association has asked all Chapters to approve amended bylaws by December 31, 2019.

Accordingly, here you will find: (i) a clean version of the proposed amended and restated Boston Chapter Bylaws, as approved by the Association; (ii) a redline of this proposed version against the current Chapter Bylaws. As dictated by our current Bylaws, we will hold a formal vote on these proposed amendments at our next scheduled meeting on Thursday, December 5, 2019. If approved by a majority vote of the Members at this meeting, these changes will become effective immediately.

Questions and comments on the proposed Bylaws should be directed to me in advance of the December 5 meeting at acmduff@murthalaw.com or 617-457-4106.

Thank you for your consideration of these changes and for your continued support of the Boston Chapter.

Amy McDuff
President, Boston Chapter ALA
