The Fairmont Copley Plaza, Ashley Malone, Business Travel Sales Manager

How and why did you come to work with law firms? The legal community travels for so many reasons and at times stays on the road for several days, weeks or even months at a time. We have been working with law firms for many years to provide accommodations and meeting space for business needs. The many firms located in our Back Bay neighborhood and beyond recommend our property to their colleagues, clients and business partners for overnight stays, lunch meetings or evening cocktails in OAK Long Bar + Kitchen. Recently we began partnering with the ABA as a member of their preferred hotel program to offer discounted room rates and amenities for law firm clientele.

Why is your service/product important to law firms? Our mission is to act to act a s a home away from home for our business travelers. We understand how the stresses travel and business can build up and we try to ease that pressure by providing comfortable guest rooms with amenities that make life on the road a bit easier. Features as simple as conveniently located power outlets, reading lights and a loyalty program that offers complimentary internet, local calls and newspapers can go a long way for convenience and cost savings. Not to mention, warm and engaging service from our colleagues who are always ready to offer a helping hand.

What makes your service/product unique? The Fairmont Copley Plaza has been an iconic Boston landmark since it's opening in 1912. If traveling to Boston from out of state or out of country, guests will find that the Fairmont Copley Plaza is an authentic representation of Boston inside and out. Although we completed extensive renovations in 2012, adding features such as a modern health club, ne w restaurant and bar and updated guest rooms, we were careful to retain our historical character that is known and loved.

Share how your company solves problems. Each of our guests and clients is a unique individual so the resolution to any problem is found through listening and understanding the individual's needs. Our colleagues have great knowledge of our hotel, our services and our city and are empowered to make on the spot decisions.  Honest and clear communication paired with knowledge is what leads us to find the best resolutions.

Share a success story your company has experienced working with a law firm. Our sales office received a phone call on a Saturday afternoon from a law firm that was going to be opening an office in town. They were in urgent need of an extended stay room block with the first guests due to arrive in three days. Our Sales Manager jumped immediately into action to accommodate th is firm with a special group arrangement and processed the quick turnaround flawlessly. We worked with the firm throughout their local office's pre-opening phase and they were so impressed with our product and service that they continue to work with us for groups, meetings and individual travel to this day.

Share your "WOW" factor: Our colleagues and the relationships we build with our guests and our community is truly our wow factor! Our frequent guests are close friends especially to the several colleagues that have been working at the hotel for  20+ years. We are proud to be ambassadors for Fairmont and our community from our involvement with the annual Boston Marathon events to volunteer work with The Food Project and the Animal Rescue League – even our very own black lab K-9 ambassador, Catie Copley, is proud to represent the Fairmont Copley Plaza!
